6-Core OS2 Fibre Optic Termination & Commissioning – Gold Coast

Overview

SOUTHCOMM was engaged by an electrical contractor to complete the specialist fibre optic works for a new 6-core OS2 single-mode fibre connection between the main communications rack and a remote front gate cabinet.

With the fibre backbone cabling already installed by the electrical contractor, SOUTHCOMM was responsible for organising and sourcing the required materials and equipment to complete the fibre infrastructure and establish the network connection.

Our scope included fusion splicing and termination of all six fibre cores at both locations, installation of fibre termination hardware, supply and selection of compatible SFP transceivers, fibre patching and optical testing of the fibre cores.

Scope of works

• Coordination and procurement of specialist fibre materials and equipment
• Fusion splicing of 6-core OS2 single-mode fibre at the main communications rack
• Fusion splicing and termination of 6-core OS2 fibre within the remote front gate cabinet
• Installation and organisation of fibre enclosures, splice trays and LC termination hardware
• Selection and supply of compatible SFP transceivers for the network equipment
• Supply and installation of fibre optic patch leads
• Optical testing of fibre cores to verify connection integrity
• Fibre patching and network connectivity checks
• Labelling and organisation of completed fibre terminations
