Keyless Entry & Video Intercom Upgrade

Overview

The customer wanted to upgrade the existing entry system but did not want a traditional indoor answering station.

SOUTHCOMM installed a Hikvision Villa Door Station that combines video intercom, keypad access and keyless entry in a modern single-unit solution, so visitors can call from the entrance and the customer can answer whether they are at home or away from the property.

Challenge

The existing Fermvision intercom occupied a significantly larger footprint than the new Hikvision unit. Simply removing it and mounting the new station would have left the original wall opening, mounting marks and fixing points visible.

Because the original intercom occupied a considerably larger opening, SOUTHCOMM fabricated a custom stainless steel backing plate to completely conceal the existing footprint. The plate was professionally prepared and powder coated to provide a clean, durable finish before the new Hikvision Villa Door Station was installed.

Solution

The existing Fermvision equipment was removed and a Hikvision Villa Door Station with integrated keypad and keyless entry installed in its place. Rather than fitting an unnecessary indoor answering station, the system was configured so the customer can receive and answer visitor calls remotely.

The custom powder-coated stainless steel cover plate conceals the footprint of the previous intercom and creates a clean mounting surface for the replacement system. The complete system was then programmed, configured and tested.
